What is Argentine Tango?
Argentine tango is one of the most beautiful, elegant, and sensual dances of modern times.
It expresses the many facets of life and is centered in a subtle communication between leader and follower. The dance opens for the opportunity to explore and develop aspects of oneself; to say yes to a dance is like stepping into a micro cosmos with ample possibility to explore masculine and feminine sides, strength, body awareness and communication between the dance partners.
Tango is a complex, fascinating artful culture, that accompanies you in a transformative journey of inner and outer exploration. Tango speaks through the unsaid and reads through the unwritten. Tango creates bridges that pulse in synchronicity. Tango is a way of living, andIt is the only dance, alongside with Flamenco, that is a UNESCO Word Heritage. It is a timeless art that continues to evolve even today.

THE ORIGIN OF TANGO |
|
Tango has its roots in the working class city dance halls of the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Its most distinctive features are a very close and intimate embrace that establishes a deep connection between the two partners and the sensual movements and figures that made it so famous. The exact origins of tango—both the dance and the word itself—are lost in myth. The generally accepted theory is that in the mid-1800s, the African slaves who had been brought to Argentina or their descendants began to influence the local culture. Read the detailed history here. Tango is magical, and chances are...you’ll fall in love with it! Why? Because tango is so much more than just movement: beyond the steps, it is a culture, a community, a music genre, a lifestyle, an intimate experience. |

Tango keeps evolving all the time, and is experiencing nowadays a new renaissance and a global boom: in almost every major city of the world, you can go out and dance tango every night of the week, and find dancers of all ages and nationalities. In the different tango places the selection of tango music goes from classic tangos from the "golden era" to electronic and alternative tango. And for us...Tango is poetry, community, healthy addiction, unpredictability and surprise, passion, authenticity, mindfulness…in other words: life at its best. Forget about the stereotype that pretends that men lead and women follow. Tango is a two-way dialogue. For us, there is no leading or following in tango. There is only listening to the other, touching each other's souls and hearts reaching beyond ethnicity, nationality, gender. It is about a physical, emotional and spiritual encounter between two people who share a language for all those emotions that we don't have words for.
